I just booked our tickets for spring break and I can’t contain my excitement! My husband and I took a trip 5 years ago (sans kids) and had the best time. We traveled to sunny Florida where I spent my spring breaks with my family during college. Back then, Ft. Lauderdale was not really known as a spring break destination – which is exactly why I loved it. You could enjoy the sun, beach and sand, and just relax. My grandparents always went down to stay at my uncle’s in the winter and I loved getting to see them and have some one on one time. Once I talked my husband into going, he was hooked. We had such a great time – we wanted to come back and bring the kids to stay for a week. It’s just a great way to beat the winter blues and help get over the hump of winter into spring.
Sooooo, this will be our 4th year with our kids – all 6 of us traveling through the airports, rental cars and final destination – sunny Florida (check out my packing guide from last year which has some tips and tricks for traveling with kids). We rent a beautiful house near my uncle’s which is a short walk to the beach and includes a gorgeous pool and lanai. I think we spend most of our time in the pool or lanai playing family games together.
Once the house is booked and tickets are bought, I search for a rental car and then begin my pre-packing checklists. I need to go through my kids clothes to see what fits from last year and what needs purchased, and of course my own closet! I found some great beach wear that can all be found on Amazon with free Prime shipping/returns. This makes it super easy to grab stuff last minute in case you forgot something (which seems to always happen, right?). Some of these items I have already and love and some will be purchased for this trip! Take a peek and let me know what you think! Are you planning a spring break trip and where to?
Packing List: Beach Trip
1/ Yellow One-shoulder Swimsuit: I love the adorable detail on this swimsuit. There is a little tortoise shell clasp on the shoulder. This is a trendy and fresh style. I sized up one as I always do in swimsuits to a medium and the fit is perfect. I have a longer torso but did not find this to be an issue. Also, the suit has light padding/cups to help keep you in place and is lined. Yellow suits are popping up all over this season too and I’m loving this color!
2/ Leopard tie-waist kimono/swimsuit cover: This sheer kimono doubles as a cover-up. It’s lightweight and comfortable for warmer weather and adds a cute pop of style to any swimsuit. Wear it to the pool in the day and over a tank at night with shorts for a casual beach-side dinner! Comes in a couple other cute colors/patterns too.
3/ Pretty ivory romper: I just got this and am so excited! I love one-piece dressing for all occasions. Wear it to head to the beach shops during the day, over your suit as a cover-up, or throw on some heeled sandals and a pretty necklace for casual but cute dinner look.
4/ Chiffon black button-down tank: This tank is lightweight and super cute with the button detail on the front. Wear with the leopard kimono and some shorts or pair with a cute skirt – endless ways to wear this closet staple.
5/ Leopard/black 2-piece bikini: This suit is super cute and has great reviews! It comes in other colors/patterns but this leopard one is my fav.
6/ White lace coverup: I love a good white cotton cover-up for the beach. Sometimes I need a little more sun protection and a shirt like this is perfect! Throw a belt on for a cute evening look or pair with some shorts – it’s so versatile.
7/ Black classic sunnies: A nice pair of sunnies that are a must-have for every wardrobe.
8/ Coin double-necklace: This necklace is super cute and will go with all your beach looks. Just the right amount of dressing up for any casual outfit.
9/ White cut-offs: I find myself only wanting to wear white cutoffs at the beach – and these are highly rated. I will be grabbing a pair of these this year! Florida can be hot and humid, but I always feel like white makes me cooler 😉
10/ Tan leather slides: I love a classic pair of leather slides to wear day and night – these are going in my suitcase!
11/ White strappy espadrille sandals: I love that these are not too high but still give a cute and dressy look to wear to a fancier dinner. They come at an amazing price and are very highly rated!
12/ White fedora: This is the ultimate beach hat for me. I wear this hat everywhere – even on the plane. I bought a fedora for everyone in the family and that’s how we keep track of everyone in the airport!
13/ Rattan circle bag: My must-have summer bag. This one is a very nice quality for a great price – I wore it all last year and it just adds a cute summery look to any outfit.
14/ Grey jersey cinch-waist dress: This dress is super-flattering on and I love the midi-length. It’s perfect for wearing with flats/sandals and can easily be dressed up or down. Runs TTS and comes in 3 pretty colors.
15/ Floral backless dress: This dress is AMAZING!! It is backless which may be scary for some – but you can either get a special bra or have cups sewn in if you don’t want to go sans bra. So beachy and fun!
That’s it folks – I’d love to hear what you’re packing for your spring break trip this year. Drop me a line!
xo,
J
